Avoid Going Out With the Same People While Online Dating

Today's Globe and Mail had an interesting article pertaining to Canadian online dating...two friends coincidentally meet the same men online, and one in particular is stirring up jealousy as he has continued to date one and not the other.  How horrifying would that be to learn you are shopping the same meat as your girlfriend?

Get outta the same dating pool!

Wow, what a small world! This can totally happen, especially if limiting one's self to the generic, mainstream online dating sites.   As a person who used to use the big ones like match.com and lavalife...I can say that the choice gets tired, and many are on both, or all major dating sites.

What increases your chances even more is having the same interests, and ticking the same boxes in profiles, and having the same  taste in men. (duh)

You can avoid this type of online date recycling by using sites that are off the beaten path. Plural.ca is a great example, free, and %100 Canadian online dating.

I'm not sure if boys care as much, but boys and girls, give the mainstream dating sites a rest! They are full of mainstream daters.  Yes, meeting unique people is still possible while online dating :-P

5 Things Women Lie About on Their Online Dating Profiles

The online dating world is full of fibbers. We've already determined what men commonly lie about on their online dating profiles, but now its time to look at the ladies....

1. Weight:  Weight is a popular one for women to lie about on their profiles. Not-so-recent photos featuring a svelte internet love interest are often what leads possible suitors to the in-person meeting, aka first date. When in reality there are a few, or more, extra pounds than expected it makes it very awkward for the person who was misled. Often, when people meet for the first time one will scope from afar to determine if they will actually go through with the date....a trick used often by those who have been burned by misleading photos before.

2. "Natural" Beauty: Waking up next to a totally different person in the morning can be disappointing....and frightening. When the layers of make-up, fake lashes, hair pieces and Spanx come off, it can be transforming. Unfortunately there's usually no way to really tell how natural the beauty is until after the magical first date. Hopefully her spell is strong enough to keep the man around!

3. Age: This is common for both sexes...the lie is usually an attempt to pass as younger than they actually are.  If the date turns into a relationship eventually the true age will be found out (if the lie wasn't obvious enough to detect on the first date), so it could get real awkward down the path of love...

4. Marital/Relationship/Family Status: This also was on the male list of things to beware. If they drove an hour or longer to reach you, if there is evidence of kids in their vehicle, or a tan line on the ring finger these are obvious hints of their misleading status! That being said, having kids are cool, but being truthful is cooler.

5. Similar Interests/Overly Likeable: Some women are good at being just what the the man is looking for. I call these cameleon daters. Guys if you start dating someone that just happens to be into the same things you are and are mysteriously missing a pet peeves...prepare yourself for the real woman she is down the road...that is, if she even knows who she is yet.
